Human Traces

A drama 750kms south of New Zealand

A knotty psychological thriller set on an isolated subantarctic island, Human Traces, the feature debut from Kiwi writer-director Nic Gorman, deftly pairs loaded suspense with slippery character study. The drama takes place 750 kms south of New Zealand, where husband-and-wife scientist team Sarah (Sophie Henderson) and Glenn (Mark Mitchinson) have been posted to monitor the ecosystem of a remote island. When a mysterious stranger named Pete (Vinnie Bennett) arrives, paranoia and deception begin to disrupt the order as secrets threaten the relationship of a married couple working on the island.

“Stunning cinematography and impressive performances help Human Traces is a promising new ground for New Zealand cinema.” – New Zealand Herald

“First-time feature writer-director Nic Gorman has delivered a suspenseful, engrossing and very well performed mood piece that marks him as a talent worth watching.’ – Variety
