Sundance winner SHAYDA, is a touching drama about a woman’s struggle for freedom and self-determination. Set in Australia a young Iranian woman and her six-year-old daughter fund refuge in a women’s shelter where she attempts to build a case for divorce from her abusive husband.
This Australian film is written, directed and co-produced by Noora Niasari and is inspired by Niasari’s own childhood experience of living in a Brisbane refuge.
