Frustrated with his commitment-phobic boyfriend Chris, Min makes a proposal: a green-card marriage with their friend Angela in exchange for her wife Lee’s expensive IVF. Their plans are upended, however, when Min’s grandmother surprises them with an extravagant Korean wedding banquet to celebrate their nuptials. THE WEDDING BANQUET is a joyful, exuberant, and fresh take on the romantic comedy genre featuring an acclaimed and hilarious cast of multigenerational talent, led by Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon) and Bowen Yang (Wicked).
RogerEbert.com – “The Wedding Banquet serves its richest dish through the shared love amongst its characters, even inspiring a few organically shed tears during compassionate, wisely written moments between Chris and Ja-Young, especially Angela and May.” (full review here)
Variety – “While occasionally heavy on exposition, memorable dialogue thrives via the actors’ convincingly comfortable banter.” (full review here)
